Plastic Spoon Magnolia Blossom
Materials:
- 8 Plastic Teaspoons
- Heavy Scissors or Clippers
- Hot Glue Gun and Glue Stick
- Artificial Leaves
- Dried Clover Blossom
- 1 Nickel
- Green Felt
- Wax Paper to cover work area
How to Create Magnolia Blossoms:
Remove handles from spoons using heavy scissors or clippers.
Leave about 1/8 inch on handle on four spoons and slightly
more, about ¼ inch on four.
Arrange the four spoons with
longest handles in a cross on wax paper. Hot glue together,
placing glue only in the center portion of the blossom so
that it will be hidden behind center. Set aside.
Arrange the four remaining spoons in cross, glue in
center but hold spoons slightly raised to form petals that
stand up more than the outer four petals. Set aside.
Once the two sets of petals have cooled and dried (about
2 minutes), stack so that the set with the slightly raised
petals are on the inside. Arrange so that all eight petals
will show nicely. When you like the arrangement, remove
center petal unit and apply hot glue to the center back.
Press into place and set aside to cool.
Remove any stem from dried clover blossom. Glue into
center of magnolia blossom. If no dried clover can be
located, create center from crumpled off-white or light tan
paper, gluing into place in center.
Select at least three artificial leaves to place around
blossom. If you wish, you may use more or leave a stem of
leaves branching from blossom. Determine attractive
arrangement for your leaves.
Turn magnolia blossom over and glue leaves in place. Keep
the glue on the back of the blossom in the center of the
blossom only.
Use the nickel to cut a circle from green felt. Glue the
green felt circle over the hot glue on back of magnolia
blossom.
These make beautiful decorations for wedding gift
packages, table center pieces or simply home decorations.
Create enough to attach to wreath for doorway for a
beautiful, unique project.
