Clay Pot Butterfly Bath
Butterflies
are attracted to water just as much as birds, so this
miniature version of a birdbath is perfect for butterflies.
Put it outside near flowering plants that butterflies are
like such as Echinacea, Aster, Blanket Flower, and Bee Balm.
Materials:
1. 6 inch clay pot
2. 6 and a half inch clay saucer
3. Acrylic paint in a light color such as blue, yellow, pink
or green.
4. Exterior varnish
5. Paintbrush
6. Large butterfly sticker
7. Stickers of foliage
8. Glue gun
9. Glue sticks
Method:
1. Begin by painting the clay pot and saucer with the
acrylic paint. The inside of the pot does not need to be
painted, but the entire saucer needs to be painted, top and
bottom.
2. Allow the first coat to dry.
3. Apply a second coat.
4. Allow the paint to dry.
5. Plug in the hot glue gun and make sure it has glue in
it.
6. When the paint has dried make any necessary touch ups
so that the color is even and allow these to dry.
7. Put the butterfly sticker in the center of the saucer.
8. Use the foliage stickers around the base of the saucer
and top of the clay pot (which will actually be the base of
the butterfly bath).
9. Make sure that there are no air bubbles underneath the
stickers.
10. Paint the varnish over the entire butterfly bath
including the stickers. This will seal the pain and stickers
and make the entire project safe from deterioration from
outdoor elements.
11. When the varnish has dried feel the clay pot and
saucer, any area that feels rough should be painted again
with the varnish.
12. When the touch ups are dry, turn the clay pot upside
down to make the base for the butterfly bath, and use the
glue gun to glue the saucer on top of the base like a
birdbath. Give the glue time to harden.
13. Now you may take your butterfly bath outside and
place it where you would like. Be sure to carry it by the
base of the bath.
